Images of Belief in Troubled Times
The
sixteenth century witnessed the reformation of western Christendom, both through
the emergence of protestant faiths and the reaction of the Roman church.
This era also witnessed an astonishing flowering of the arts, and the
entanglements of these two themes – religious and artistic change – form the
core of this series of adult study sessions, led by Kent
Lydecker The art of Peter
Breughel the Elder and other great masters of the age will be studied in the
context of the changing world of belief.
