GSECC is a full service early childhood center registered by the
University of the State of New York.
Under Director Sasha Wilson, Good Shepherd is sponsored
and operated by the Church. However, no religious instruction is included in the
curriculum.
At Good Shepherd, the skillful and understanding teacher, the use
of on-staff consultants, the stimulation of an absorbing program, and the child's own
efforts all work toward the development of the whole child in a Child-Centered Program. A
close rapport is developed between the teacher and parents through the school's
cooperative nature, formal conferences, and parenting seminars co-sponsored with the
Church.
From the Director:
Our
Annual Winter Carnival and Silent Auction was held on Saturday, February 2nd.
This year’s proceeds totaled $8800 and will be used to purchase new
equipment and furnishings for the Nursery School, as well as for tuition
assistance. These
wonderful results would not have been possible without the hard work and
generosity of the Carnival Committee of our very dedicated parents.
Special thanks are due to Jennifer Chalsen and Kelli O’Donnell for
handling the Silent Auction and to Dina Morabito and Jennifer Rhoads for running
the Café. The
Carnival Committee planned and handled the entire event, including setting up
the previous day, manning all of the areas during the carnival, and cleaning up
afterwards. (My
final memory of the Carnival is of a very tired parent volunteer pushing a large
mop across the Auditorium floor.)
Members of the Committee contributed all of the items used for the
special events ranging from snacks to art supplies.
We cannot thank them enough.
