INVOCATION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, in Your sight the fine print of our lives is written in large letters, and we are glad it is so. Place a seal on our lips when we want to demean or belittle others. Order our minds when we form the thoughts that are intended to cut or wound. Forgive us for using Your name to justify hatred or exclusion. Forgive us for settling too easily into our notions of the truth, without first listening to Your Word. Help us to be those whom You love and redeem, and, therefore, those who are at peace within and with others. Through Christ we pray. Amen.

Leader: From you comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will pay before those who fear him.
People: The poor shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the Lord. May your hearts live forever!
Leader: All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord; and all the families of the nations shall worship before him.
People: For dominion belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.
Leader: To him, indeed, shall all who sleep in the earth bow down; before him shall bow all who go down to the dust, and I shall live for him.
