Hymn to Joy

Loving God, we confess the old sins that have lodged within us, as well as the temptations which seek entry. We confess that we are unable to save ourselves no matter how hard we try, or how much we want it. We are in need of that power You alone can give. Save us from those impulses which deserve no place in our hearts. Save us from going through the motions without love, without joy, without peace. Release us from our sins, dear Lord, and grant us new life in Jesus Christ. Amen.

Life is short. We have not much time to gladden the hearts of those who journey with us. Therefore, be swift to love, make haste to be kind.
